Course Details

The Containers, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Administration I (DO285) course is a 5-day course that is designed to help students build core knowledge and skills in managing containers through hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

The class is based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5. DO285 combines the content from Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift (DO180 ) and Red Hat OpenShift Administration I (DO280 ).

Through an introduction to Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Platform, this course helps students to understand one of the key tenets of the DevOps movement: continuous integration and continuous deployment. Containers have become a key technology for the configuration and deployment of applications and microservices. Kubernetes is a container orchestration platform that provides foundational services in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which allows enterprises to manage container deployments and scale their applications using Kubernetes.

In addition to gaining an understanding of these tools, students will build core administration skills through the installation, configuration, and management of an OpenShift cluster.

Topics covered in the course include:

  • Container, Docker, and OpenShift architecture
  • Creating containerized services
  • Managing containers and container images
  • Creating custom container images
  • Deploying multi-container applications
  • Installing an OpenShift cluster
  • Configuring and managing masters and nodes
  • Securing OpenShift?
  • Controlling access to resources on OpenShift?
  • Monitoring and collecting metrics on OpenShift?
  • Deploying applications on OpenShift using source-to-image (S2I)
  • Managing storage on OpenShift?

Target Student:

  • Administrators who are new to container technology and container orchestration
  • Architects and developers who want to install and configure OpenShift
  • Architects who are considering using container technologies in software architectures
  • Developers who wish to containerize software applications
  • System administrators?who want to learn more about OpenShift
  • System architects?who want to learn more about OpenShift

Prerequisites: Students should possess the following experience before attending the course:

  • Ability to use a Linux terminal session and issue operating system commands
  • RHCSA certification or equivalent knowledge
  • Experience with web application architectures and their corresponding technologies

Topics covered in the course include:

Red Hat JBoss AMQ, part of the Red Hat application integration suite, provides application administrators, software architects, and developers the ability to integrate disparate applications in a decoupled manner using enterprise messaging paradigms.

Providing a highly performant and robust message broker, router, and client libraries for numerous languages, Red Hat JBoss AMQ is the solution for asynchronous and synchronous messaging. Red Hat JBoss AMQ Administration (JB440) helps system administrators, architects, and developers acquire the skills they need to administer Red Hat JBoss AMQ.

Via hands-on exercises, the student will create, configure, manage, and monitor broker instances including hardened, clustered brokers that provide high availability and failover.

Course content summary

  • Installing a JBoss AMQ 7 broker
  • Configuring multicast and anycast addresses
  • Securing the AMQ broker for authentication and authorization
  • Clustering AMQ brokers
  • Monitoring JBoss AMQ brokers
